Creekside Consulting started in 2020 as a veteran owned small business in Clayton, in Lenawee County, built around one idea: give people in this part of Michigan somewhere close by to learn to shoot properly.
They train on their own ground. There is a climate controlled classroom that seats 30, a 25 yard pistol range and a 300 yard rifle range, with rentals, ammunition and range gear available on site, so the classroom portion and the live fire happen in the same visit.
The instructor team comes from military, law enforcement, education and medical backgrounds, and holds USCCA certification. Beyond the Michigan CPL course they run defensive pistol and carbine programs at three levels, two person armed defense, home defense, private instruction, instructor development, and first aid including Red Cross and Stop the Bleed. They also run a women’s handgun and self defense class.

Classes are hands on. Instructors work the line one student at a time, watching grip, stance and trigger press, and correcting as you go rather than leaving you to figure it out from a video.
The CPL course runs about five hours in the classroom and three hours on the range. You will fire at least 30 rounds, and they suggest bringing about 100. If you do not own a pistol, rental guns are available.
